WMS Junior High volleyball team on a roll

The Washington Middle School eighth grade girls volleyball team has gotten off to a fast start this season. 

There are two teams for the eighth grade girls. 

The girls played their first match on Sept. 8 against Glendive at home.  

The Blue team played first and had excellent serving and team work.  

They beat Glendive 25-19, 25-20 and 15-10.  

The Blue team played the second game and took control right away. They played hard, beating Glendive 25-6, 25-12 and 15-9.

The Blue and Gold’s next match was Saturday, Sept. 10 against Sidney at home.  

The Gold team took advantage of playing on their home court and played hard beating Sidney 25-12, 25-11 and 15-11, making them 2-0 for the season. 

The Blue team worked as a team to pull-off their second win of their season.  They beat Sidney 25-11, 25-16, and 15-13. They are also 2-0.

On Monday, Sept. 12 both the Blue and Gold teams traveled to Baker.  

The Gold team played the first match and beat Baker 25-14 and 25-13. They are now 3-0.  

The Blue team came out and served strong to beat Baker 25-8, 27-25 and 15-0. They are also 3-0 on the season.

The Blue team had their second match of the week on Tuesday, Sept, 13 against Forsyth at home. The Blue team won their first set, 25-22. They lost the second set, 24-26.  They won 15-11 to win the third set. 

The Blue team played again for the third time in the week on Thursday, Sept. 15 in Colstrip. The Blue team beat Colstrip in a close one 25-23 but lost the next two sets 25-9 and 15-9. 

Members of the Blue Team are Ashtyn Anderson, Emily Doughty, Jayda Fox, Jordan Hagemeister, Avery Hansen, Taylor Lee, Abby Nowicki, Alexxis Naylor, Carmella Prete and Ryleigh Simonsen.

Members of the Gold Team are Laurel Bartos, Emily Beard, Alina Cazier, Kelsey Draper, Athena Gramm, Anne Marie Hagemeister, Natalie Haycock, Ruby Kuester, Kaylee Merical, Sally Michaelson and Bethany Mueller. Managers this year are Halli Watts, Marissa Coleman, Alexys Perkins, Mikiya Wright, Hailie Bass and Megan Woitkielewicz.
