Velma McDowell LeBlanc


HAMILTON — Velma McDowell LeBlanc, 81, of Hamilton passed away April 27, 2014 in Missoula. 

She was born August 2, 1932 in Denver, CO to Delbert and Vera McDowell.

In 1950 Velma married Rudy LeBlanc, to that union five children were born and in 1986 the marriage ended. Velma then moved to Hamilton and made a home with William ‘Bill’ Anderson; enjoying many years of companionship. During Velma’s life she held various jobs; always in service, as she was such a people person. In 1987, Velma began volunteering at the Daly Mansion, her love, dedication and commitment to the mansion was unparalleled and she received many awards for her service. In January 2013 Velma was honored for her 26 years and over 25,000 volunteer hours.

Velma is survived by her companion Bill Anderson and her children: Carl LeBlanc, Pamela Grimm (Chuck), Cherie LeBlanc (Val Dyba), Terry LeBlanc (Toni); grandchildren: Troyette, Tommy, Mike, Lindsey, James, Laurie, Richard, Rodney, Raymond, Terran, Ryan, Christen, Courtney, Caitlynn and Carleigh; as well as 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters and daughter and son-in law Louise and Mike Brown.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Daly Mansion. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made in Velma’s name to the Daly Mansion, P.O. Box 223, Hamilton, MT  59840.
