Tracy M. Grant

Tracy M. Grant, 41, of St. Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family. 

Tracy was born in Salinas, CA on August 3, 1975. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Ball State University and a master’s degree in Geochemistry from Montana Tech of the University of Montana (Go Orediggers!). She worked as an environmental consultant after college, where she helped clean up contaminated sites, until she decided to embark on the journey of a stay at home mom, an experience she cherished very much. 

Tracy was an avid hiker, camper, biker, swimmer, and artist, hobbies of which she wove into her children’s daily lives. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking and eating delicious food, dancing like nobody was watching, and loving on her family. 

Tracy was a member of The Peace Corps, spending two very enriching years in Kenya. After she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she joined the Pink Phoenix Dragon Boat Racing team, finding solidarity in the company of other survivors.

Tracy is survived by her husband, Stephen R. Dent; children, Zander and Dahlia Dent; parents, James and Colleen Grant; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Tracy Grant; nephew and niece, Magellan and Maslin Grant; father and mother-in-law, Rick and Fidele Dent of Miles City; and many extended family members and friends. 

The family received guests from 12 PM until the Celebration of Life at 1 PM on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 Dr. MLK Street, St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
