Prep Volleyball: Cowgirl JVs drop 3-0 to Ekalaka varsity

The Custer County District High School junior varsity volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Ekalaka High School varsity squad on Friday.

The Cowgirls lost 15-25 and 16-25 in the opening games, but pressured Ekalaka before falling 20-25 in the finale.

Sophomore outside hitter Emily Toennis paced the Cowgirls with seven kills, while junior setter Amanda Beard logged 11 digs and 11 assists.

Junior Madi Friend added 12 digs for Custer County, while sophomore Madi Rask and freshman Madi Maier had two blocks each. Sophomore Maci Moore had three of the Cowgirls nine service aces.

The Custer County freshman team fared better, winning in straight sets 25-15, 25-9, 18-16.

Mackenzie Rack led the Cowgirl freshmen with 10 kills. Hope Herzog logged 21 assists, Maier had eight digs, while Sydney Johnstone and Elise Anderson had seven and six digs respectively.
