Outlaws to host 5-team tournament this weekend

The Miles City Outlaws just made their way home from a tournament in Indianapolis and they are immediately getting ready for the Jase Henderson Memorial tournament here at home.

Five teams will be participating in the tournament: the Richland County Patriots, Havre North Stars, NW Premier, Cheyenne Mustangs and the Outlaws.

Henderson was one of the original members of the Outlaws team. In 2009 he passed away in an auto accident.

The Outlaws Club decided to hold this tournament to honor his memory, and the Henderson family will be at the opening ceremonies to throw out the first pitch Thursday at 6 p.m.

The first game between Richland County and the Outlaws will take place at 6:15 p.m. after the opening ceremonies.

Games will continue Friday morning at 10 a.m. and continue for the day. At the end of the day Friday there will be a barbecue open to the public and served by the Kiwanis Club. Following the barbecue there will be a skills competition with a running event and an accuracy throw.

Saturday games start at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until 8 p.m. when the Home Run Derby will take place.

The games prior to Sunday will be placing teams in their seeded positions. On Sunday seeded play starts at 9 a.m., with the championship game starting at 4:30 p.m. Games will be played at Tedesco Field. The tournament sponsor is Blue Rock.

“The Outlaw Baseball Club is very excited to be bringing this tournament to Miles City and to honor Jase Henderson and his family,” a press release said.
