It’s time to get your scavenger skills working. The first Fall Festival and Scavenger Hunt, presented by Miles City Head Start, starts Saturday at 11:30 a.m at Riverside Park.

Registration for the scavenger hunt starts at 9 a.m. and the event concludes at 3 p.m. with the winner to be announced at 3:30 p.m. at the park.

“We wanted to try something new,” said Trish Warmbrod, a Head Start employee.

There also will be games, face painting, a bouncy house, a hay ride and food. The cost per child for entry and lunch is $10 and the cost per adult is $5 for lunch only.

Warmbrod said there will be 100 items in the hunt, but teams won’t have to get to all of them. But the more the better if you want to be the event winner.

“It’ll be all over town,” she said. “Some of the items will need to be picked up and brought to the park and some others will require pictures with the team in them. They’ll give hints for landmark places.”

The entry fee — it’s for all ages and children’s teams must be accompanied by an adult — for the scavenger hunt is $40 per team of four individuals with a charge of $5 for each additional person. To preregister for the hunt, contact Miles City Head Start at 406-234-5223 or Kelly West at 406-350-2219.

For more information visit the event on Miles City Head Start’s Facebook page. All proceeds will go to help fund the school to provide the children with needed supplies for the classrooms, new books, a tablet for each classroom and more.

Kelly West, one of the organizers of the scavenger hunt, et al, isn’t sure what to expect Saturday.

“It’s not like your usual scavenger hunt,” West said. “We’re hoping to get the community involved to raise money for Head Start and make this an annual event.

“It’s so much fun and whoever gets the most (of the 100) is the winner.”

Regarding the turnout, Warmbrod added: “It’ll probably depend on the weather.”
