New basketball league begins in March

The Centra Athletic Center on the Miles Community College campus will host a five-week youth basketball league for boys and girls ages in grades 1-6. Skills assessment and team drafts will begin March 2.

Games will be played at the Centra on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 6:30 p.m. Rim heights will be adjusted according to age, a news release noted.

“Our goal is to provide an opportunity to teach kids how to play basketball through an organized, competitive and recreational setting, focusing on fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship,” the news release noted.

To sign up, go to Red Rock Sporting Goods in Miles City.

The league is sponsored by Holy Rosary Healthcare, Mountain West Farm Bureau, Mutual Insurance Company (agents Justin Venn and Matt Korell), and Red Rock Sporting Goods. Holy Rosary donated one of the adjustable basketball hoops.
