Miles City Council selects Huber for Ward 2 seat

Rick Huber is the new Miles City Council member for Ward 2.

The council chose him Tuesday night at City Hall by a vote of 6-1. He was sworn in at the meeting and took his seat.

Huber is the manager of Automatic Transmission Systems and has served on the Miles City Study Commission for the past couple of years.

He has lived in Miles City all but two years of his life.

Before the vote, each of the candidates were given a chance to say something about themselves.

Huber said he has “a passion for downtown … and Miles City” and would like to draw more people from the west end interstate exit. He enjoys working with people and has worked for many years in sales.

He has worked with many of the city departments, selling them vehicle parts when he worked at a previous job, so he feels he is familiar with some of the departments.

He believes more needs to be done in economic development.

“I’m humbled to be here,” he said, noting there is a lot to learn for a new council member.

Before Huber was chosen, Mayor John Hollowell told the candidates he was keeping their names because they are always looking for committee members.

The other candidates were Rob Shipley, Dr. Jeff Williams and Cindy Reid.

Huber is replacing Rachel Sloan, who resigned in August.
