Miles City and area students graduate from MSU-Bozeman

During 2017 spring commencement ceremonies at Montana State University-Bozeman, 1,512 undergraduate degrees were awarded. The commencement ceremonies were held Saturday, May 6, at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Dr. Paul Melvin, a graduate of MSU who pioneered methods of orthopedic surgery, received an honorary doctorate in arts and delivered the charge to graduates at the afternoon ceremony, according to a MSU News Service release.

A list of the graduates from Miles City and the surrounding area follows. 

Miles City — Andrew Abel, Travis Banister, Taylor Falcon (graduated with highest honors of 3.70 grade point average or higher), Tyrel Hess, Julie Leischner, Shawna Pratt (highest honors) and Matthew Warn (highest honors).

Ashland — Theodore DeTavernier, Derek Kirchner and Rylee Studiner.

Baker — Ryan Espeland (graduated with honors of 3.25 to 3.69 grade point average or higher).

Forsyth — Frank Marcy.

Glendive — Mary Geiger, Kimberly Powell, Sadie Sampson (highest honors), Jordan Viegut and Nora Wittmayer.

Jordan — Logan Olson (honors).

Lame Deer — Vonnda Lei (honors).

Sidney — Lorraine Allen, Cyrus Hintz, Alexandre Irigoin and Shay Steinbeisser (honors)

Volborg — Christopher Janssen and Alyssa Riley (highest honors).
