Megan Marie LaFayette

Megan Marie LaFayette, 31, of Belle Fourche, SD, passed away March 26, 2017 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

She was born August 17, 1985 in Billings, Montana to Randy and Cyndi (Sturdevant) LaFayette. Megan graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 2003.

She married Jacob Ford in 2005 and to this marriage two daughters, Rayechael and Jocelynn were born. The family lived in Lead, SD until the couple divorced in 2010 and Megan and the girls moved to Perry, OK. In 2013, they moved back to South Dakota living in Belle Fourche where Megan worked various jobs. Her most recent employment was working as a CNA at the Belle Fourche Health Care Community.

Megan loved to bowl, play softball and volleyball. While in high school she played the flute and sang in the choir. She also participated in many of the school plays. She loved collecting anything with Dolphins.

Megan is survived by her children, Rayechael Ford and Jocelynn Ford; her parents, Randy and Cyndi LaFayette of Belle Fourche; a brother, Jason (Veronica) LaFayette of Belle Fourche; nephew, Tate LaFayette and nieces, Rose LaFayette and Bryn LaFayette and a special friend, James Colton of Belle Fourche.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ryan LaFayette; maternal grandfather, Gilbert “Lee” Sturdevant; paternal grandparents, Robert and Margot LaFayette and an uncle, Michael LaFayette.

A Ceremonial Tribute was held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 31 at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche with the Reverend Bob Duemig officiating.

A Ceremonial Tribute will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, April 3, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Miles City, Montana with the Reverend Jerry Collins officiating.

Inurnment will follow at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City where Megan will be laid to rest with her brother, Ryan Lafayette.
