MCC lose lead in 104-95 loss to Central Wyoming

The Miles Community College men’s basketball team suffered a humbling 95-62 loss at Western Wyoming on Saturday night.

On Monday night, the Pioneers played better at Central Wyoming in Riverton, but dropped a 104-95 decision after building an 11-point lead at halftime.

The Pioneers were down 54-28 at halftime against Western, which climbed to 14-13 overall and 7-6 in Region IX.

Erie Olonade scored 20 points and Perion Little had 13 to lead MCC. Jonathan Tchuisse had 11 points, Andrea Lo Biondo six, Gavin Gundlach and Daquazemarr Wyche had four apiece and Jaxon Hinch and Joey Lodine two each.

Five players reached double figures for the Mustangs, led by Nathan Fromm with 32 and Obi Agu with 21.

The Mustangs shot 56 percent (40-72) from the field compared to MCC’s 40 percent (24-60). The Pioneers had seven 3-pointers, two each by Little, Olonade and Lo Biondo, and one by Wyche.

The Pioneers were outrebounded 47-26.

In the loss to Central Wyoming, which is 18-11 and 9-4, Olonade scored 22 points, Lo Biondo had 21, Little 15, Jaxon Hinch 11, Gavin Gundlach and Jonathan Tchuisse 10 each, and Wyche


The Pioneers, who led 53-42 at halftime, shot 52.2 percent (35-67, including 11-29 on 3-pointers). The Rustlers, who hit 49 percent (36-73, including 9-25 on treys), were led by Henry Tanksley with 31 points and Irshaad Hunte with 30.

The Pioneers, now 9-20 and 3-10, are scheduled to play Little Big Horn at home at 4 p.m. Saturday in their final game before the postseason starts. However, Little Big Horn has been forfeiting games due to a shortage of players.
