To protect the students, Miles Community College has decided to cancel their Pioneer Preview Day due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This event is used to allow prospective students to see the campus, meet faculty and participate in different activities.

The preview day was set for Monday, March 23.

“We were very much looking forward to hosting prospective students,” said Erin Niedge, Dean of Enrollment Management and Educational Support Services in a press release. “These are challenging times for high schools and colleges around the country. We still want to ensure they can experience all that MCC has to offer, albeit in a different format.”

The cancellation is just one part of the action plan the college has put in place.

According to a press release, regular classes have been changed to online for the rest of the spring semester. The services on campus are still open, allowing small groups to still tour the campus.

If touring in-person won’t work, MCC is offering virtual tours using the online platform, Zoom.

“We are here for students, said Niedge. “We want to help make the college exploration and decision-making process as easy as possible, despite these new challenges.”
