Thief must pay $28K to fix 'Dukes of Hazzard' Sno-Cat

EAGLE, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado man has been ordered to pay more than $28,000 to cover damages after he pleaded guilty to stealing a Sno-Cat painted to look like the "General Lee" car featured in the TV series "The Dukes of Hazzard." The Vail Daily reports the owners of the Sno-Cat said Jason Cuervo damaged the tracks, axles and electrical system after stealing it last year. Authorities say Cuervo hitched a trailer holding the Sno-Cat to his pickup truck in Minturn and hauled it along Interstate 70 to Grand Junction. He was arrested a few weeks later.

Van passenger impaled

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say somebody stole a tripod from a California Department of Transportation crew and then dropped it from an overpass onto a Sacramento freeway, impaling the lung of a passenger in a van. The driver of the van, Tim Page, tells KCRA-TV that he was on Interstate 5 Thursday morning when the yellow-andred tripod smashed through the glass. He says it went through his passenger’s lung and popped out. The man survived but with broken ribs and a partially punctured lung. Authorities say a 32-year-old man they suspect threw the tripod was arrested on a warrant but may face a charge of attempted murder.

Not a happy birthday

WEST NEWTON, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania woman allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a box cutter because no one got her a card, cake or gift on her 55th birthday. Georgia Zowacki is charged with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and other counts. It wasn’t known Friday if she’s retained an attorney. Authorities say Zowacki had been drinking vodka throughout the day on Wednesday. Her boyfriend took her out to dinner that night, but he said she attacked him when they returned to their West Newton home, putting the box cutter near his throat and threatening to kill him. She then allegedly slashed his arm with the weapon, causing minor injuries. The man said Zowacki then ransacked his bedroom before leaving their home on foot. Police found her on a neighbor’s porch.
