The weekly Cowtown Moosic Festival, which started this summer in downtown Miles City and will be on Tuesday evenings through Aug. 6, continues this week with a concert by Joey Leone Chop Shop. The family-oriented activities begin at 5 p.m. in the 800 block of Main Street and will end around 9 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Very rarely do you see a world class guitar player, who can sing a wide variety of material authentically and be a polished performer as well. But after gracing stages for many years, honing his craft as a sideman as well as a frontman, that is what Joey Leone brings to every show, according to his website,

The current incarnation of Leone’s successful career is a blending of classic, rock, soul, and country music, with a tasteful addition of original material. Leone can deliver a concert of authentic blues in the tradition of his influences Albert King, Magic Sam, Freddie King, and Otis Rush. The sound of his vintage Telecaster guitar can bring you back to the sound of Bakersfield guitar giants like Don Rich and Roy Nichols. Leone’s classic rock reputation dates back to the October 1992 issue of “Guitar Player” magazine where his sound was compared to that of Jimi Hendrix.

In recent years, Leone performed with Joe Perry and Brandon Niederauer. Further back in Leone’s career he played with Chaka Khan and Bruce Willis.

In addition to the concert, there also will be food vendors and children’s activities. The Miles City Farmers’ Market also will be set up, according to a news release from the Cowtown Moosic Committee.

Monetary donations and sponsorships to help with this event are still being accepted. Volunteer labor to assist with set up and tear down each week; civic or non-profit groups with members who may wish to run or supervise children’s activities; and vendors who would like to sell their products on Main Street also are needed.

Vendors may contact either Vicki Leesburg or Dawn Simpson at Vintage and Rustics, 813 Main St., phone 234-7878. Food vendors may contact Nancy Pasha at LaCasa Diamonds, 23 N. 8th St., phone 234-1224. Potential sponsors or donors may contact Heinle at, 819 Main St., phone 351-9943 or Tara Moore at LaCasa Diamonds. Volunteers may contact Elizabeth Patten at Miles City Area Economic Development, 1010 Main St. No. 18, phone 234-2705.
