The repairs were made by James Androuais with the McShane Bell Company, the same manufacturer whose name is imprinted on the 1986 original bell. The company has produced over 300,000 bells across the country since it was founded in 1856. The cracked bell frame prompted repairs at the Sacred Heart Church bell tower on Wednesday. The original bell from 1986 remains sound. The original frame was replaced after a couple welding attempts to preserve it throughout the century, but this time the frame was beyond repair, and it was not safe to keep it any longer. Other parts were also replaced, including the bell swinging motors for the second time. Now, the swinging of the bell can be operated through the phone. The approximately 1,200 pound bell and its yoke are the last original pieces standing. STAR PHOTO/Carol Rangel
