High school golf: CCDHS teams finish 7th

The Eastern A Conference schools got to play against the Class AA golf teams from Billings in Thursday’s invitational hosted by Billings Central at Eagle Rock.

Billings West won both team titles, but individuals from the Eastern A fared quite well.

Ashtyn Swigart led the Custer County District High School Cowgirls with an 88, followed by Amber Taylor at 104, Chaney LaPlante and McKenzie Taylor, both 110, Ann Marie Hagemeister with a 115 and Allie Wagner 125.

In boys’ play, Derek Schneidt led CCDHS with an 80, followed by Nick Anderson with an 88, Joel Christianson 96, Garrett Jones 101, Ryan Gardner 106 and Haden Warren 109.

The girls individual medalist was Sidney’s Kailyn Volk with a 74, followed by Kinsey Irvin of Fergus with a 76, Abby Gremaux of Fergus with an 85, Tierney Messmer of Sidney with an 85 and Perry Wieldicombe of Billings Central at 86.

The boys medalist was Liam Clancy of Billings Central with a 67, followed by Joey Moore of Billings West with a 70, Paul O’Neil of Laurel with a 73, Tristan Belle of Hardin with a 76 and West’s Jace Rhodes with a 76.

Hardin will host the Eastern A Divisional tournament next Friday. The state tourney follows Sept. 29-30 at Sidney.

The invitational slated for Laurel today was canceled due to the rain. It will not be rescheduled.

Girls team scores: Billings West 348, Sidney 354, Fergus (Lewistown) 356, Billings Skyview 378, Billings Senior 380, Laurel 407, Custer County District High School 412, Havre 419, Hardin 465, Glendive 523.

Boys team scores: Billings West 306, Billings Central 311, Laurel 329, Billings Senior 332, Sidney 347, Billings Skyview 351,  Custer County District High School 365, Fergus (Lewistown) 377, Hardin 411, Glendive 448 and Havre 529.
