Custer County squads out of town for weekend

Willie Nelson would be proud, sitting in Miles City singing “On the Road Again.” At least if he was interested in sports.

That’s because all the Miles City high school and college varsity fall teams are traveling this week.

The volleyball team is in Cody, Wyoming for a two-day tournament starting Friday; the varsity golf team travels to Hardin on Friday; the cross-country teams (boys and girls) are running Friday in Billings, and the football team plays the Locomotives Saturday in Laurel.

One more: The Miles Community College women’s volleyball team played Monday in Bismarck, North Dakota, and Wednesday against the Rocky Mountain College junior varsity in Billings. Now comes a weekend tournament in Sheridan, Wyoming.

It’s a tad different next week. At least the football team will be at home, playing host to Belgrade at 7 p.m. Friday.

But all the other Cowboys and Cowgirls will be traveling.
