Cowgirls suffer a tough loss

The Custer County District High School Cowgirls basketball team started their Class A Eastern Divisional basketball tournament yesterday, falling to Park High School, 63-27, at the First Interstate Bank Arena in Billings.

"We struggled yesterday," Cowgirls first-year head coach Abbie Reynolds said. "Livingston had great ball pressure that we couldn't handle. Today we will play Lewistown and keep fighting for that third and fourth place spot."

With the loss the Cowgirls fall into the third place bracket, where they will compete for a spot in the third place match and a bid to the Class A state championships.

The Cowgirls will be playing Fergus High School tonight, tip off at 7 p.m. in Billings. The winner of that game will take on Dawson County High Schools girls team.

The Cowboys, who entered their tournament as a top-seed got a round one bye. Their first game will be this afternoon, as they take on Laurel High School at 12:30 p.m.

Laurel is coming off of an opening round win against Sidney High School, 60-41. The winner between Miles City and Laurel will take on the winner between Fergus High School and Billings Central Catholic High School.
