Cowboys fall 62-46 to Billings Central


There wasn’t much joy regarding the Custer County District High School boys basketball team after falling 62-46 to Billings Central Catholic in Eastern A Conference play Friday night.

The Cowboys fell victim to a balanced Billings Central Catholic attack led by Chrishon Dixon’s 14 points.

Kaden Stradley led the Cowboys with 16 points, followed by Jayden Venable with 10. Also scoring for CCDHS were Gabe Gundlach with six, Keith Vanderlann and Steven Ray with five each and Dayron Johnson and Cameron Muri with two apiece.

The Cowboys, who led 15-11 after one quarter, were down only 26-25 at halftime before the hosts outgunned CCDHS 24-8 in the third quarter to lead by 17 at 50-33. The Cowboys outscored the Rams 13-12 in the fourth quarter.

The Cowboys, 2-5 in conference play and 5-9 overall, host Laurel for their final home game of the season on Thursday. The game was postponed Saturday due to bad roads.

It will be Senior Parents night. Seniors on the team are Gundlach and Shawn Beeler.
