Cowboy golf teams show improvement as Divisionals near

The Custer County District High School boys and girls golf squads had a busy week, playing at Billings on Thursday and Laurel on Friday.

The competition was stiff in Billings with 10 teams competing, including three Class AA teams. Both teams competed well with Deven Doughty taking sixth overall for the boys with a 77, and Ashtyn Swigert placing sixth for the girls with a 90.

Neither team placed in Billings, but they played well, according to head coach Jon Harris.

Friday’s meet included 11 teams from the area, including the three Billings AA schools.

Deven Doughty led Miles City with a 79.

“The kids are doing great and improving every week,” Harris said. He said he is pleased with the positive attitude that team members have.

“They are in a position to qualify both teams to the state tournament,” he said.

The Eastern A Divisional tournament in Sidney will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m.
