Square dancing at Drop-In Center — Prairie Star square dancing starts tonight at 7 and will continue on Thursday evenings until Thanksgiving, according to Lynn Strobel, a member of the group. The dancing will be in the Senior Citizens Drop-In Center at 17 S. 11th St.

Information available for Emergency Financial First Aid Kits — With all of the wildland fires and hurricanes happening this year, Bill Ellis, Custer County deputy Disaster and Emergency Services safety coordinator, is reminding local and area residents that they should have Emergency Financial First Aid Kits. Sept. 20: 6:42 p.m. flight team at 2600 block of Wilson Street; 9:12 p.m., grass fire, Industrial Site West Road.

Custer County Fire Calls

According to Custer County Fire Warden Bud Peterson, three type six vehicles — which are pickup trucks with spray units mounted on them — responded to some downed power lines near the old rendering plant. Miles City Fire Rescue provided support with a similar unit. The fire was quickly extinguished and Peterson reported no damage was done.

A second fire was reported 47 miles south of Miles City on Highway 59. A hay truck was on fire and Peterson reported area residents and county units were responding to help save the hay.
