Band Aid organizational meeting Sept. 28 at CCDHS — Mike Gillan, Custer County District High School Band director, is inviting all parents of students in band who are interested in participating in a support group, called Band Aid, to an organizational meeting on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. in the CCDHS Band Room. Christian speaker to give presentation Thursday — Former professional soccer player and Christian speaker Junior deSouza will give a presentation Thursday at 7 p.m. in the First Baptist Church. The church is located at 900 Palmer St. A free will offering will be taken.

Film festival opens Thursday — The first film in the 2017 Fall Film Festival series will be shown Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Montana Theatre, 905 Main St. The movie, “Beatriz at Dinner,” is about Beatriz, played by Salma Hayek, an immigrant from a poor town in Mexico. She has drawn on her innate kindness to build a career as a health practitioner in Los Angeles. Doug Strutt, played by John Lithgow, is a cutthroat, self-satisfied billionaire. When they meet at a dinner party, their worlds collide and neither will ever be the same. This movie is rated R. 

Ducks Unlimited Banquet on Saturday — This year’s Ducks Unlimited Banquet will be Saturday from 6-9 p.m. in the Town and Country Club. For more information or to purchase tickets call Silas Counts at 406-679-0755 or visit’s-night-out. Tickets, which include dinner, cost $40 for couples, $30 for singles and $20 for youth (ages 17 years and under). 

Rose Grenz Memorial Harvest Dinner on Sunday — The Annual Rose Grenz Memorial Harvest Dinner will be Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Parish School gym at 1500 Phillips St. The menu will include a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings. Tickets are available at the door the day of the dinner. 

Donations being taken for RSVP event — Local and area residents and anyone who has had or will have a garage sale from now until October may donate gently used or new jewelry or accessories to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Items may be dropped off at the RSVP office on the 2nd floor of the Veterans Affairs Facility at 210 S. Winchester Ave., Custer County Extension Office in the courthouse, or Job Service at 12 N. 10th St. All donated items will be sold at “Bling!,” an annual fundraiser for RSVP, on Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Waterworks Art Museum. RSVP supports more than 200 volunteers and more than 45 volunteer sites in Miles City.
