The fledgling Miles Community College womens volleyball program has signed a proven winner to a national letter of intent.

According to an MCC news release, Ashley Becker of Circle High School will suit up for Head Coach Chase Soennichesen’s Lady Pioneers this fall when the program returns after a multi-year hiatus.

The 5’-3’’ Becker had a successful high school career that included winning a Class C state championship in 2015. She was also part of the team that finished third in the state in 2014.

During her three years of varsity competition, Becker had an 85 percent serve percentage with 52 aces, 837 assists, 74 kills, 170 digs and 11 blocks.

The daughter of Bryan and Danielle Becker, she plans to major in nursing at MCC.

“MCC has been the number one choice on my list from the beginning of the year mainly because of the wonderful reviews on their nursing program,“ Becker said.

The size of the MCC campus, and its proximity to Circle, also figured in her decision.

“MCC is a smaller college and coming from a class C school I felt that it would be an easy transition from only having 26 kids in my class,” she explained.

Becker was also a cheerleader and ran track at Circle.
