Board of Appeals agenda — The City of Miles City’s Board of Appeals will meet Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Miles City Hall Conference Room to consider a request by K. Dawn Colton for a Floodplain Variance to construct a utility carport with an attached enclosure without flood vents at 519 Hubbel St.

Miles City Preservation Commission agenda — The Miles City Preservation Commission will meet Thursday at noon in the Miles City Hall Conference Room. On the agenda are approval of commission minutes from Thursday, June 15, and financial reports; staff reports of the Historic Preservation Office budget and staff report; old business of budget and original Milestown project; new business of Historic Preservation Office management planning; citizens’ comments; and members’ roundtable. 

SY School District 83 trustees to have budget meeting — The SY School District 83 Board of Trustees will have a budget meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the SY School.

Structure assessments for flood risk management study — The United States Army Corps (Corps) of Engineers will be conducting structure assessments in and around Miles City as part of a collaborative flood risk management study with the city of Miles City. Information gathered during the assessments will include structure location, structure type and approximate structure foundation height. No one will be coming onto your property at this time, although there may be slow moving vehicles in your neighborhood throughout the week of Monday through Friday, Aug. 14-18. This information will be used by the Corps and the city to determine the community’s risk of flooding and develop solutions to reduce the risk. The public will have opportunities to comment on the results of the assessments and the on-going study at future public meetings. Firefighters flowing fire hydrants today — The Miles City Fire Department will be flowing fire hydrants today in the areas of Bridge through Otter streets and Winchester through Legion avenues. Water may appear cloudy in this area for a short time. Let your faucets run a little longer to clear.

Relay For Life meetings Tuesday — The 2017 Relay For Life Committee will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in room 106 at Miles Community College. This meeting will be followed at 7 p.m. by Bank Night and the Team meeting with a pizza party. Those who can’t attend the activities in person may email easternmrfl@gmail.com. Volunteers are needed for setup on the day of Relay For Life, Friday, Aug. 18, at the MCC track.
