Bobcats host Wagner on Saturday

The Montana State Bobcats are licking their wounds after a 45-14 road loss to South Dakota State, and preparing for a visit by the Wagner University Seahawks of Staten Island, New York.

The teams sport matching 1-1 records. Montana State owns a 26-23 season-opening win over Western Illinois. Wagner opened with a 40-23 win over Bowie State before bowing to Syracuse 62-10.

Quarterback Tucker Rovig made his Montana State debut last week, throwing for 164 yards. South Dakota stuffed Montana State’s rushing attack, limiting head coach Jeff Choate’s Bobcats to just 29 yards on the ground.

Troy Anderson leads the Montana State offense with 74 yards rushing per game. Kevin Kassis has caught eight passes for 107 yards.

Wagner features a balanced offense. The Seahawks are averaging 191 yards passing and 161 yards rushing per game.

Running back Ryan Fulse has been Wagner’s biggest weapon. He averages 7.8 yards per carry and 159 yards per game.

Fulse was named the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week after his 271-yard, three-touchdown performance against Bowie.

Wagner quarterbacks by committee, with three signalcallers combining for four interceptions in two games.
