Barn Player present musical featuring Elvis Presley songs

The Barn Players are ready to rock.

The local theater group’s fall production —”All Shook Up” — opens Thursday night at the Custer County District High School auditorium with a largely veteran Barn Player cast.

The musical combines songs made famous by Elvis Presley with Shakespearean plot complications. There were will be three performances — Thursday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The play was written by Joe DeiPietro and is based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” a play about mistaken identities and true love.

According to a Barn Players’ news release, John Kassner plays a guitar-playing roustabout whose motorcycle breaks down in a quiet midwestern town in the 1950s.

Cecelia Freese is the mechanic who falls for the hip-swiveling out-of-towner. Sadly, she had never noticed Josiah Mahan, who plays the overlooked best friend. The stranger, of course, falls for someone else, in this case Sarin Hoppe as a museum curator.

Meanwhile, Angie Price, Bert Pezzarossi, Rohn Ratliff, Tristan Reno, McKinsey Jerrel and Sharla Jerrel have their own plot complications to deal with, Elvis songs to sing, and romances to work out.

Other cast and chorus members include Amanda Barnard, Keara Barnard, Alex Bradford, Duane Giddis, Melissa Giddis, David Florian, Cassandra Garrison, Katie Keith, Ruby Kuester, Anthony Manfredo, Nathan Miles, Sue Miles, Jessica Neese and Kaylee Yearger.

Tickets cost $10 and are available at the door, through the Miles City Chamber of Commerce at 511 Pleasant St., or by calling (406) 234-2890.

The Barn Players hope to present the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, “The Sound of Music,” for the holiday season. Performances are scheduled for Nov. 18-19 and Dec. 1-3.

A dinner show with a live radio performance of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is also planned for this season.
