MCC’s Peinado Balaguer signs at Upper Iowa University

Marina Peinado Balaguer, a guard on the Miles Community College women’s basketball team, will continue her playing career at Upper Iowa University, a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in NCAA Division II. Belaguer, a native of Mataro, Spain, averaged 7.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 2017-18, her first season with the Lady Pioneers. She shot 36.6 percent from behind the 3-point line. “Marina’s shooting ability translates to any level,” MCC head coach Nate Vogel said. “Her ability to play either wing spot and even be able to play some point guard if needed makes her valuable for any team.” Last season she helped MCC to a 25-8 overall record, a 10-5 league record and a pair of playoff wins.
