‘Wreaths Across America’ honors deceased vets

To honor deceased veterans from the Miles City area, members of the Miles City Jaycees organization are sponsoring this year’s Wreaths Across America (WAA) program.

Wreaths Across America is a national project that places wreaths on veterans’ graves around the United States for the holiday season.

Wreath-laying begins at Arlington National Cemetery this year on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 9 a.m. EDT.

According to a flyer from the Miles City Jaycees, a Remembrance Ceremony in Miles City also will be held on Dec. 16.

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in the Eastern Montana Veterans State Cemetery followed by wreath laying.

The location coordinator for the event is Darrel Neese and he may be contacted at 406-951-3879.

The Miles City Jaycees is an approved fundraising group for the program. Members of the group have had several fundraisers throughout the year with the money used to purchase wreaths.

For every two wreaths sponsored through the Miles City Jaycees, WAA will donate a third wreath.

The goal of the Miles City Jaycees is to place a wreath at every grave site (approximately 500) in the Eastern Montana Veterans State Cemetery on Dec. 16.
