William Malvin “Bill” Muri, 98, of Miles City, formerly of Rosebud, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.
Mr. Muri was born March 24, 1916, to R.P. and Nellie Muri. He was the first of nine children.
He married Virginia Reed on Dec. 13, 1941, and they were married for 71 years before she died in 2013.
Mr. Muri was an avid sportsman even though he had an artificial leg from the age of four years. He especially enjoyed bowling, fishing and his favorite, golf, which he did until he was in his early 90s. He worked until his early 90s selling real estate. He went to his office every day.
Mr. Muri built the house where the family was raised in the early 1950s and lived there until 2010 when Mrs. Muri’s health failed and she was unable to live in the country any more without help. They moved to Miles City and there they lived until their deaths.
He was healthy and still had a sharp mind until the last several weeks before his death. Mr. Muri enjoyed reading and talking about his life growing up. He wrote a small autobiography about himself that touches on things that were important to him.
His survivors include his son, Wayne; daughter, LeeAnn (Clyde); four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marie; brothers, Buck and Karl; sisters-in-law, Jean, Dannie, Anita, Joyce; and brother-in-law Bill Leischner.
Mr. Muri was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; brothers, Jim (Alice), Bob, Andy (Lorraine) and Pete; a sister, Anna Mae; and brother-in-law, Chuck Ansoms.
Graveside services will be Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Forsyth Cemetery in Forsyth. A luncheon will follow at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth.
