Star now offers full e-Edition

The Miles City Star is pleased to announce an exciting new way to have your newspaper delivered.

For the first time in the local newspaper’s 100-plus-year history, people now have the choice of receiving their newspaper in the traditional print format, or having it delivered electronically to their computer, phone or e-reader.

The new e-Edition is an exact replica of the print version and will be available each weekday by 5 p.m. Readers can log on and scan the paper a page at a time, zooming in to their own comfort level.

“We feel that the launch of our e-Edition will greatly enhance our abilities to deliver our products to a diverse audience,” said Star Publisher Dan Killoy.

“We live in a different world, and the number of platforms available to view our products is changing daily, and we want to be able to make sure our customer needs are being met, whether it be delivered to their doorstep or electronic base.”

The e-Edition is now up and running, and can be viewed on the Miles City Star website, People can sign up on the website or by contacting the Star office at 406-234-0450, 800-323-6505 or PayPal is used for online transactions.

There is an option for a one-day free trial of the e-Edition.

New subscribers in Custer County can choose the print edition, e-Edition or both - the price is the same for all three options.

One month’s subscription is $12, and a full year of the Star is $136.80.

If you are already a subscriber to the print edition and don’t want the e-Edition, you don’t have to do a thing - you will continue getting your paper as you always have. But if you want to add an e-Edition, you’re welcome to do so at no extra charge. Just go to the website and sign up. There is an option that reads “Already a print subscriber.”

The Star hopes the e-Edition will be especially attractive to out-of-area subscribers who enjoy reading the Star and keeping up with hometown happenings, but want to get away from increasing postal rates and slow delivery. From now on, if an out-of-state subscriber chooses to get the e-Edition only, it will be delivered the day it is published and it will be at the same price as if they lived right here in Custer County - a savings of more than $20 per year.

“Hundreds of customers subscribe to the Star via mail, and an ongoing problem has been late delivery, receiving the paper four to five days after publication,” Killoy said. “This e-Edition will give them the same-day delivery as our print customers, eliminating numerous problems.”

Once you subscribe, you will receive a daily email with a link that lets you access the e-Edition directly.

Another new option for e-Edition subscribers is that from this point on, every edition of the Star will be placed into a digital archive and available to all subscribers at no extra charge. The archive will eventually have up to a year’s worth of newspapers available, so if you want to look up a story that happened last week or six months ago, you will be able to just log in and go.

Also available through the e-Edition will be all of the Star special sections from the past year, including the Christmas Kickoff edition, Hunting Guide, Veterans Salute and many others.

While the e-Edition will be a great new option for readers, it also offers some new opportunities for those who advertise in the paper. All advertisements in the print edition will be available in the e-Edition at no extra charge.
