Sandra Barclay describes herself as “extremely happy and excited” as she opened 9th Street Nutrition and Specialities Monday morning in the store that was the Kafe Utza coffee shop at 19 S. Ninth St.

Barclay has put her own stamp on the decor and added smoothies and a lunch time salad bar in addition to coffee and pastry.

The salad bar will include tossed salads, up to three side salads, and all the extra veggies and crunchies to make a tasty salad.

The salad bar will be available from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for lunch during the week.

The hours for 9th Street Nutrition and Specialities will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.  On Saturday, the shop will be open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The redecorating took a little longer than planned but several coats of paints later, the shop is now decorated is soothing springtime colors.  Booths have also been added.

Barclay plans to add some extra features, possibly including a juice bar and other healthful snacks, in the future.  Danielle Finn also works at the new shop.

There will be a grand opening in August.
