Ruth Caroline (Dyba) Cornell
Ruth Cornell was dedicated to her family and to her faith. Born in Miles City to Caroline and Walter Dyba, Ruth was raised in a large and loving household. Sacred Heart Church was an important part of her childhood.
Ruth graduated from Custer County High School in 1949. She played on the basketball team.
She moved to Sacramento, CA in 1952, and retired from Sacramento County Adoptions in 1997. A lifelong Catholic, she was an active member of St. Michael’s Church in Carmichael, CA. She enjoyed travel, reading, classical music, and Sousa marches.
Her most memorable vacation was her first trip to Europe with her daughter Jennifer in 1987. Most of all, though, she enjoyed her children and grandchildren and loved being a mother.
Married 56 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald (November 8, 2013), and is survived by her four children, daughter Jennifer, sons Greg, Matthew, and Mark, and their spouses; her eight grandchildren Steven, Christopher, Andrew, Gregory, Nicholas, Luke, Jonah, and Charlie; her brothers Richard, Mark, and David, and sisters Dorothea and Margaret Ann.
A Requiem Mass was offered at 10am on Friday, January 31st at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 4524 Garfield Ave., Carmichael, CA (95608). Burial immediately followed at Calvary Cemetery in Sacramento.
Remembrances may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.”
