Roy L. Wagner
Roy L. Wagner, 85, died on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.
Mr. Wagner was born on Nov. 15, 1928, in Ashley, N.D., the son of Reuben and Elsie Strobel Wagner. In 1930, Mr. Wagner and his family moved to the McCone County area to farm and ranch. He grew up and attended country school until the eighth grade when his family needed his help on the farm.
He worked with his parents until 1951 when he enlisted in the United States Army. Mr. Wagner served in the Army until 1953 when he was honorably discharged, at which time he returned home again to the farm.
On March 3, 1956, Mr. Wagner married the love of his life, Mathilde Kron, in the Evangelical United Brethren (EUB) Church in Circle. In 1962, they moved to the family farm where they raised their four children, Deanna, Donald, Darryl and Arlen. Mr. Wagner remained on the family farm his entire life up until a week ago when he was no longer able.
He was a hard worker, a true family man and a devout Christian who loved the Lord, attending church regularly and faithfully reading his Bible and serving on the church board in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife, Mathilde Wagner of Circle; his one daughter, Deanna (Jon) Kliewer of Lustre; his three sons, Donald (Cheryl) Wagner of Havre, Darryl (Kari) Wagner of Billings and Arlen Wagner of Circle; six grandchildren, Matthew Wagner, Megan (Ben) Buckridge, Whitney and Ethan Kliewer, Jena and Jordyn Wagner; one great-grandchild, Elijah Buckridge; and three sisters, Evelyn Kemp of Glasgow, Esther Enkerud of Tampico and Mary Pawlowski of Circle.
Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Laverne Wagner.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 1 to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Circle. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Assembly Of God Church in Circle. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery.
