Myrtle Ruth Johnston Cooper


Myrtle Ruth Johnston Cooper, 93, of Circle died on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the McCone County Nursing Home in Circle.

Mrs. Cooper was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Central City, Neb., the daughter of Cecil and Myrtle Ruth Johnston. She was an avid crocheter and quilt maker. She was very involved in the Lutheran Church Quilt Club. She moved with her parents from Nebraska to Montana in March of 1929 with four younger siblings. Five other siblings joined this family in the coming years.

She heard of God’s great love and believed in her heart that Jesus paid for her penalty of sin on the cross. She then accepted Him as her Savior and was born into God’s family. She is right now enjoying heaven.

On Aug. 11, 1947, she married Gilbert Lloyd Cooper of Richey, where they were involved in farming for some years. To this union two children were born, Melvin Virgl (Patty) on Oct. 5, 1948, of Glendale, Ariz., and Virginia Ruth (Waldo) July 30, 1951, of Springdale, Wash.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by her children; five grandchildren:  Bradley (Angel) Cooper of Glendale, Ariz., Bryan (Trisha) Cooper of Cabot, Ark., Shad (Rennette) Waldo of Miles City and Shasta Waldo of Springdale, Wash.; six great-grandchildren: Tyler Cooper (Cheyna) of Phoenix, Ariz., Crystal McRae of Phoenix, Ariz.,  Amanda Cooper of Glendale, Ariz., Brandon and Zachary Cooper of Cabot, Ark., Alyssa and Dylan of Federal Way, Wash.; her surviving siblings: Johnnie (Beverly) Johnston, Helen (Harold) Hoffman, Mary Johnston, Ella (Tom) Anderson, Ruben (Mary) Johnston; and many other relatives and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Lloyd Cooper on Feb. 3, 1994, in Glendive; an infant son, Keith on June 25, 1953; infant grandson, Clinton on Feb. 27, 1991; a five-year-old great-granddaughters, Sascha Waldo on March 15, 2003; along with her parents, Cecil and Katie; three brothers, Dave, Eugene and Lawrence; and a sister, Marjorie Ziegler.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Circle. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Circle. Private interment will be in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
