Miles City Fire Chief Gary Warren has been placed on administrative leave by Miles City Mayor John Hollowell.

That action resulted in Battalion Chief of Operations Brandon Stevens being named acting fire chief about two weeks ago.

Calls to three City Hall employees requesting information about the situation were referred to Miles City Mayor Hollowell, who did not return phone calls before today’s deadline.

“The only thing I know is that Chief Warren is on administrative leave and I am just filling in until he returns,” Stevens said this morning.

“I’m just filling in wherever I’m needed, keeping the department on the path that Chief Warren set for us,” he said.

Three firefighters recently left the Miles City Department and a fourth is leaving Nov. 22. However, three replacements were hired on Nov. 1, which will leave one position open on Nov. 22 with a new hire anticipated in January, according to Stevens.

At full-strength the fire department has a chief and 13 firefighters/EMTs on staff.

Stevens also referred calls for more information to the mayor.

“He’s got the info,” Stevens said.
