Harvie L. Howes
Harvie L. Howes, 85, of Miles City died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the Friendship Villa in Miles City.
Mr. Howes was born on Aug. 10, 1928, in Stutsman County, North Dakota, to Elum and Alice Howes and grew up near Crystal Springs, N.D. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Mr. Howes moved to Miles City and married Shirley Valenta from Dickey, N.D., and remained in Miles City for the rest of his life.
He worked for Peavey and Production Credit Association at the time of his retirement. Mr. Howes enjoyed meeting with the farmers and ranchers and spending time reviewing their agricultural operations.
He was a craftsman woodworker and restored many old wagons back to the original beauty. He also enjoyed painting and doing crafts with his granddaughter.
Mr. Howes is survived by his daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, JD, of Bozeman, and granddaughter, Kacie in Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Evonne Weikum of Bismarck, N.D., and Geraldine Briese of Jamestown, N.D.; several nieces and nephews; and good friends, Dale and Doris Thibault in Miles City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and parents.
Services will be in April. Further announcements will be made when dates are set.
Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
