Feeder check

When the snow let up a bit Wednesday morning, the chickadee on the left made a check of his favorite feeder off Dickinson Street. What did he find, but a seed thief taking some of his winter food supply. A sneak attack from behind quickly solved the problem, and the first chickadee set up a watch station nearby to keep the intrusion from happening again. This little quick drama is a reminder that the Audubon Society annual Christmas Bird Count is coming up soon. The Society’s 114th bird count will be held December 14, and if you wish to be part of this effort to keep track of birds’ shifting migration patterns, you can contact Audubon at http://birds.audubon.org/christmas-bird-count.
