Elmer Boschee

Elmer Boschee, 82, of Miles City died Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.

Mr. Boschee was born on Nov. 18, 1931, in Miles City, the son of August and Matilda Treichel Boschee, along with his twin sister Eileen. He was one of nine children. Mr. Boschee attended Kircher School thru the eighth grade. Then he quit school and went to work for Glen Monte on his ranch 29 miles south of town all summer and fall.  He then went to work at the Lockie place for four and one-half years.

Mr. Boschee then joined the Navy at the age of 19 years, serving four years during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 14, 1954. Upon his return, he went back to work for the Lockies again.

He and Mable Ann (Larson) MacKenzie were married on June 25, 1958. In September of 1958 they moved to Hathaway where they leased the ranch until they purchased it six years later using a loan from Mrs. Boschee’s father, Arthur. They raised Mrs. Boschee’s two sons, Kenny and Keith, from her previous marriage to John MacKenzie. Mr. Boschee adopted Kenny and Keith on May 13, 1971, after their father died on Nov. 16, 1970. Mr. and Mrs. Boschee faithfully supported Kenny’s and Keith’s academic and athletic activities while attending school in Rosebud. They especially loved and rarely missed watching their football and basketball games.

After Mr. Boschee became gravely ill in 1993, a decision was made to sell the ranch and move to Miles City in March of 1994 and they bought a house on North Winchester Avenue. Mrs. Boschee continued to work full time at Holy Rosary Hospital as a registered nurse.

Mr. Boschee’s health improved enough to where he could work again and enjoyed helping out several ranching friends, doing what he loved most. He loved riding horses, working cattle, haying, calving, branding and most of all running wild horses. He also enjoyed attending the high school basketball games, especially at tournament time.

His survivors include two sons: Keith Boschee of Casper, Wyo., and Kenny (Ava) Boschee of Miles City; a sister, Lorene of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a brother, Ervin of Miles City; a grandson, Kevin Boschee of Miles City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Ann Boschee; his parents, August and Matilda; two brothers, Art and Ed; and four sisters, Emma, Viola, Delores and Eileen.

Military graveside services will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Eastern Montana State Veteran’s Cemetery in Miles City with full military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1579.
