Celeste Gerleman


Celeste Shelane Gerleman, 49, died peacefully surrounded by her family at the hospice house in Gillette, Wyo., after years of battling cancer.

She was born Jan. 4, 1965, in Miles City, the first child born to Andy and Helen Gerleman. She graduated from high school in Broadus in 1983.  

She moved to Olathe, Kansas where she attended Mid America Nazarene College. She never married.

She had a big heart. A mother hen to her siblings, nieces and nephews, she had a successful career as a mortgage broker and had many hobbies such as scuba diving, parachuting, canoeing, fishing, modeling and horseback riding.

In 2008 she returned to the family ranch when she became too ill to care for herself.

Her survivors include her parents, Andy and Helen Gerleman of Weston, Wyo.; brothers, Shane (Heidi) Gerleman of Amsterdam, Mo., and Shuan (Bridget) Gerleman of Sheridan, Wyo.; a sister, Sherri (John) Zdziarski of Sheridan, Wyo.; nieces, Reyo, Seara, Faith and Chelsea; and nephews, Jeffery, Chanz, Rainz and Mitch.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Andrew and Mabel Gerleman and Horace and Charlotte Broaddus.

Her lifelong friend, Rebecca Mader, gave her friendship and support. The hospice house in Gillette gave her loving care and all of her family and friends gave prayers throughout these difficult years.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Private family interment will be on the family ranch.
