Carl G. Bensel
Carl G. Bensel, 94, of Columbus, formerly of Miles City, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at his daughter’s home with family at his side.
Mr. Bensel was born in Miles City on Aug. 11, 1919, the son of Gustav Arthur and Florence Pye Bensel. He attended schools in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School.
He and Fern Bensel were married on July 23, 1958. She died on Dec. 17, 1998.
At one time Mr. Bensel owned Bensel Hatchery in Miles City. He also worked for John Etchemendy at Texaco Bulk Plant and Solid Waste as a bookkeeper.
Mr. Bensel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City.
He is survived by one daughter: Nikki Lee Ruth and husband, and two grandchildren: Timothy Ruth and Samantha Ruth, all of Columbus; four nieces: Beverly Jacobs and her husband, Julie Jordon and her children, June Hanson and Barbara Little John; five nephews: Don Lee and his family, Ed Hickel, Harry Hickel, Alan Hickel and Gary Anderson; a sister-in-law: Ruth Hickel; and many extended family members.
Graveside services with full military honors will be Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
