Alvin L. Hennen
Alvin L. Hennen, 91, of Billings, formerly of Miles City, died on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Nursing Home in Billings.
Mr. Hennen was born in Sidney on Jan. 12, 1923, to Lyman and Eva Hajny Hennen. He attended high school in Sidney.
In 1946 he married Alice Miller and they had six children: Donald, Robert, Rita, Richard, Donna and Lynn. Mr. Hennen worked at several jobs over the years, retiring from the Miles City Moose Lodge. He lived in Miles City until 2012. He most recently lived in Billings at St. John’s Nursing Home.
Mr. Hennen was a good-natured guy, always had a smile and a joke or story to tell. Stricken by polio at 17 year of age while in the Civilian Conservation Corps he spent 1-1/2 years at Letterman’s General Hospital in San Francisco, California.
He is survived by his sisters: Anna Rose Martin of Billings and Betty Randall of Helena; children: Donald, Robert, Rita and Richard; step-children: Marlee “Kay” Baxter, Betty Nielsen, Sandi Barnes, Mark Nielsen and Kelly Pierce; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hennen was preceded in death by his parents; a bother: Buster; sisters: Gladys and Geneva; daughter: Donna; son: Lynn; step-daughter: Jann; and longtime companion: Lucille Nielsen.
Services will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. in Billings.
Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
